Sign Up to Serving at Kingsford Church of Christ

One of the key identities of Kingsford Church of Christ is that

we are servants, and as servants we give.

We give to one another, sharing our gifts, resources, time, energy, finances and anything else we have at our disposal so that we can faithfully steward the varied grace that the Lord has given us.

We do this out of earnest love for one another, because we have experienced the earnest love of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 4:8-11).

Our hope with serving at Kingsford Church of Christ is for each of us to serve one another in some capacity,

serving in areas that help us to both grow and flourish.

  • Sunday Club/YAK
    • This role requires you to help support the childrens ministry. You'd need to be there early, and you would miss out on the sermon for that week. Some training is required as well as an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
  • Table@399 - Faith|Food|Friendship
    • There are 3-4 main areas to choose from. They are:
      • Preparation - Packing bags of fruit and vegetables delivered by OzHarvest
      • Serving meals - During the afternoon dinner, meals are lovingly served to those who attend
      • Clean-up - This may involve packing chairs and tables, and general cleaning duties
  • Music Team
    • This role requires you to have a decent measure of musical ability either in singing or playing an instrument. You will be required to arrive early for rehearsal and work with the team.
  • Tech Team
    • This is running the sound desk or putting the lyrics on the screen or controlling the camera. The sound desk requires a bit of knowledge and experience, whereas the lyrics and camera operator are pretty straight forward. You would need to be there early on the day that youre rostered on.
  • Muscles & Maintenance
    • This role requires you to assist with general maintenance of the church facility, and may include tasks such as gardening, general cleaning, or moving items like chairs and tables.
  • Smiles
    • First impressions are important, and feeling welcomed is often the difference between someone staying at a church or leaving. You need to know how to smile and make small talk.
  • Sunday Fellowship
    • If you like to entertain and ensure there is more than enough tea, coffee, and food to go around, you will be a great fit.
  • Life Group
    • As much as we want you to serve in community, it is also important to receive in community - friendship, faith (and sometimes even food)!

HOW WE DO ALL OF THIS:

There are a few principles that guide the way we want to serve:

  1. Serving should be both a challenge and a joy. Jesus Christ served us by giving his life to us for the joy that was set before him. Serving ought to be a joyful experience. To that end, we always encourage people to nominate an area that they would really enjoy serving as well as an area that would stretch them.
  2. Church isnt a machine, and were not cogs. We dont want to be burning one another out with our expectations, so while its important that we are serving at least once per month, its our policy that no one should be serving more than twice per month, and where we can help it, we try to not let someone serve two weeks in a row. This can't always be helped, especially when people are unavailable or when there are five Sundays in a particular month, but we do our best.
  3. Good structures protect people. We want to be as organised and as diligent as we can because a good and well-maintained structure allows us to keep these principles. We use an online platform called Elvanto which helps us stay organised, and our simple request is that we do our best to reply to serving invite emails, and keep our unavailabilities up to date. That might not make sense now, but when you start using the app, it will.
